This post is one of a series on signs and symbolism, and today I talk about the meaning of the ten key principles that govern over life, which we typically call numbers: zero, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven eight and nine.
My posts on Signs & Symbolism and Intuition are also useful if you’re interested in reading oracle cards. Speaking of oracle cards, have you seen THESE?

ZERO
So, the ten principles of zero to nine are the building blocks of Creation. Together, these principles influence every aspect of life, from physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. And each principle has a dual nature, or in other words, opposing forces.

Duality doesn’t need to be right or wrong, good or evil, light or dark, but an opportunity to experience variety and diversity.
Duality needs balance for a strong foundation to facilitate evolution. After all, our main shared purpose as human beings is to experience life so the soul can evolve.
Right, let’s start in the place where everything began—the void. The void is ground zero for Creation, so ZERO holds the God-quality. When we look at the written digit, we typically see a circle. Circles represent completion and wholeness.

ZERO is nothing and needs nothing to make it whole. It holds within it the potential for everything. But ZERO can only experience everything if it evolves beyond itself, which brings us to Creation.
ONE
First came ONE, the beginning of life and the manifestation of form. If we observe ONE as a written digit, we see some of its qualities, including its likeness to a human figure. So, ONE is the self, the soul.

ONE needs to stand alone to develop independence, confidence and bravery. ONE has self-focus to move forward, but its lack of external input can make it single-minded, inflexible, or stubborn with tunnel vision.
If ONE opens its mind, it can receive a flash of inspiration that brings a fresh idea or opens a door to a brand new chapter. ONE is the path ahead, setting off on a new journey. At times, ONE may feel lonely, isolated or insecure, but ONE wasn’t meant to be alone forever—cos what fun would that be? So another principle emerged from the void: the principle of TWO.
TWO
TWO desires connection with another to form an emotional bond, but TWO must learn to balance give and take to avoid co-dependency or neediness.
TWO has passion to create and the desire for pleasure, so again must find balance to avoid fluctuating extremes. TWO swings back and forth, switching sides, up and down, left and right, as it weighs up opposing influences to find a straighter path.
TWO gives choice, offering a different point of view, which requires a decision to avoid confusion and doubt. Emotions can run high, then low, then high, then low, insisting on patience to ride out the ebb and flow as unseen events develop behind the scenes. Then out of the blue, a decision arrives, changing everything.
THREE
As ONE and TWO merge, the principle of THREE is born, creating a group, a family, that leads to expansion and branching out. THREE is the trinity, the first closed unit that represents an unending cycle. THREE links mind with body and emotion, life with death and rebirth, innocence with experience and wisdom.

THREE wants more for itself than ONE or TWO. Joy and abundance are THREE’s goals, so it will remove opposing energies to reach those goals.
THREE wants to explore, to socialise, to be the life and soul of the party as it races ahead, full of zest for life. But without moderation, THREE can over-indulge or suffer exhaustion, so it must use previous lessons learned to create balance.
When THREE engages its mental capacity, new ideas form, opening up avenues for creativity and an influx of new experiences. However, an unfocused mind leads to scattered energy and ineffectiveness, so the principle of FOUR can help bring THREE back to Earth.
FOUR
FOUR connects to the physical world and the four directions. FOUR is practical and manual. FOUR works things out using logic and reason, bringing order out of chaos. FOUR needs strong foundations to build a lasting structure that will give stability well into the future and weather any storm, as long as it doesn’t rush.

FOUR puts health in order, overseeing the balance of work, rest and play, and its connection with nature keeps it grounded and de-stressed.
FOUR removes confusion left behind by THREE, by seeing clearly, like looking through a window. And in contrast to THREE, FOUR can feel restrictive, placing limits on itself or creating rules to support its orderly nature. But if FOUR becomes too rigid or gets stuck in a comfortable rut, the next principle of FIVE delivers a breakthrough, instigating a welcome change.
FIVE
FIVE likes to experience the world through its five senses, sometimes to the extreme, which can lead to sensory overwhelm or encourage excess sense gratification. If FIVE goes to extremes, it can suffer burn-out, so it must use the lessons learned from principles ONE, TWO, THREE and FOUR to find a place of balance and return to its centre.
And the centre is where FIVE sits. In the middle of the nine principles, FIVE always sees the different perspectives. FIVE’s central position also gives it the freedom to move in any direction and begin an adventure if it desires.
Where FOUR is reliable, FIVE is changeable, excitable, impulsive and thrives on expressing itself freely. FIVE likes to invent new ways of doing things, provided it can sit still long enough to implement those changes! And if it can’t, the next principle of SIX can help by bringing harmony.
SIX
After FIVE’s love of movement, SIX prefers activities centred around the home and family. The strong nurturing instinct of SIX, like a mother wishing to protect and look after those in her care, can make it hard for SIX to say no. Duty, responsibility and commitment weigh heavy on SIX’s conscience until it learns the valuable lessons of putting itself first and finding the right balance between helping itself and helping others. If SIX doesn’t invest in its own self-care to replenish its energy, SIX’s energy reserves will run dry.

SIX needs a safe haven where it can explore beyond its five physical senses and develop its sixth sense, and when it learns to expand its sixth sense, it forms a magical connection to the Spirit realm and beyond, giving it a taste of unconditional love.
When SIX taps into this high-frequency love, truth, justice and fairness are paramount. And a higher path opens up, ready to awaken the mind for the next principle of SEVEN.
SEVEN
SEVEN is self-focused like its earlier sibling, ONE, but unlike ONE, SEVEN has gained experience and wisdom from its previous six siblings. SEVEN prefers to hold its own counsel and doesn’t take advice from others, which sometimes leads to learning things the hard way.
As SEVEN’s mind awakens, its past goals change, and its focus shifts towards deep thinking and contemplation. If SEVEN can’t connect with like-minded souls, it will retreat into its cave to be alone.
And time alone is exactly what SEVEN needs to heal, rest and recover. But if SEVEN doesn’t receive what it needs, destiny intervenes, and sometimes in an unwelcome manner.
At times, SEVEN takes life too seriously, but SEVEN has a lot to reflect upon before its fast-paced sibling, the principle of EIGHT, bursts into life.
EIGHT

The written digit of EIGHT is like the infinity symbol, which gives a clue as to EIGHT’s main purpose, which is Karma.
Karma is the idea that what goes around, comes around, so Karma brings the results of past seeds sown.
When the principle of EIGHT receives its harvest, it will be bountiful or sparse, depending on the past actions of its previous seven siblings. If losses ensue, EIGHT must take responsibility and correct present actions to avoid future losses.
EIGHT has inner power, ambition and strength, and will not suffer fools. Its seemingly endless energy and sometimes ruthless attitude pushes EIGHT forwards to get what it wants, often trampling on those of a meeker nature, but not intentionally, of course. And as long as EIGHT remembers to take a break sometimes, it won’t run out of steam.
While EIGHT wants to enjoy the luxuries offered by the physical realm, through its spiritual connectedness, EIGHT has learned that the material is immaterial. EIGHT can master the physical realm if it kerbs its power-hungry nature and focuses on creating something that will benefit the world and not just itself. And when EIGHT finally achieves success and fruition of its goals, the end of the cycle gets closer as completion looms when the final principle of NINE appears, slowing everything down.
NINE
NINE takes a step back to review and assess its accomplishments, to figure out what worked and what didn’t, and to gain wisdom from its experiences.
Many things must end for the ninth principle. If NINE has formed strong attachments, emotions prevail as grief is felt. But loss brings liberation, creating space for something better, as a new cycle awaits on the horizon.
NINE has learnt many lessons and gained much wisdom, evolving beyond what was previously thought possible.

Compassion and forgiveness come easily for NINE, creating space in the heart to experience universal love, the highest vibration.
With its spiritual perspective and wise mind, NINE dreams up ways to improve its life and the lives of everyone else. From its lofty height, NINE might walk around with its head in the clouds, unable to bring its high ideals to the physical realm just yet, so it feels the burden of delays as it waits for the next cycle to begin again with the first principle of ONE.
DOUBLE, TRIPLE DIGITS & MORE!
And as the cycle ONE through to NINE repeats, it then repeats again and again … following a never-ending spiral. Each cycle moves higher … and around, then higher … and around, then higher, on and on. Each turn gains wisdom and experience, adding to the previous, always evolving, increasing and expanding, experiencing everything in every possible manner, on and on and on . . .
So these are the principles of Creation, the single digits ZERO through to NINE, creating the foundation for life and all the experiences we will ever have. But it doesn’t stop there, not quite, at least, because now we’ll briefly look at the principles appearing in twins, triplets and more!

When twin digits appear, also called double digits, such as one-one or two-two, they carry a higher vibration than a single digit. The double digits show up for a spiritual path, the connection to a higher power and an expanding awareness. But there’s more still. Three digits the same is an even higher vibration with even greater significance. Four digits are more significant than three, and so on, with each additional digit bringing higher vibrations, greater responsibilities and even higher learning.
Number principles, like other signs and omens, are messages from the universe and from Spirit, helping to guide us on our journey through life. Noticing their presence in daily life leads to a better connection with your sixth sense, your spirituality and your divinity. And with observation and conscious awareness, it becomes apparent how everything fits together in perfect synchronised harmony, creating divine order and balance.
Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
