Hello lovelies.
In this post, I talk about the different supernatural abilities (including intuition, sixth sense, ESP, clairvoyance etc.), what can block them and six ways to expand them. If you’d like to develop your sixth sense I have plenty of resources through my YouTube channel which I add to frequently. And I have NEW COURSES available!
If you’d rather watch the video, you can watch it on YouTube.
Signs of Having a Sixth Sense/Intuition
Have you ever:
- had a hunch that defied logic, reason or rational thought?
- had a gut feeling that opposed what everyone else was saying?
- known the phone was going to ring moments before it rang, or that you knew who was calling?
- felt an atmosphere when you walked into a room?
These are examples of intuition. I bet most of you have experienced this before.
So, here are a couple of questions for you:
1) Is there a difference between intuition and sixth sense?
But more to the point:
2) Are intuition, psychic awareness, the sixth sense and extra-sensory perception different supernatural abilities or are they the same thing?
If you answered, there’s no difference between intuition and the sixth sense, and all these terms refer to the same thing, then fab! You got it right! I don’t know why there are so many labels, but to keep it simple for the rest of the video, I’ll use the term sixth sense.
How Does the Sixth Sense Work?
The sixth sense takes us beyond our five physical senses and our rational mind. So the sixth sense isn’t logical thought, a wild guess or the process of deduction. The sixth sense is the ability to perceive energy—and that’s the energy within us, around us and even beyond us. The term extra-sensory perception, or ESP, perfectly describes this.
But how does the sixth sense work?
Let’s think of physics for a moment. We are electro-magnetic beings living in an electro-magnetic universe, which means at the micro-level, everything, whether animate or inanimate, is a mass of vibrating energy. Anything of a dense mass vibrates slower, so it feels solid, and anything less dense, such as gas, liquid, sound or light, vibrates faster.
And as electro-magnetic beings, we each have our own unique energy signature, which you could also call a vibration or frequency. Everything we do, everything we feel and everything we think creates a frequency wave. If you could see or hear those frequencies, they’d be different colours and sounds emanating from us. Imagine if you saw or heard the frequency of a happy thought. Imagine what the sound wave of birdsong would look like.
Seeing the world that way would be pretty amazing and not impossible, either!
The sixth sense is the ability to perceive energy in all its forms.
As we know, human beings have five physical senses that function through different areas of the body—the ears, eyes, nose, mouth and skin. Well, the sixth sense works through the pineal gland found in the brain. As energy beings, energy flows into, through and out of the body, with the brain regulating that energy. Science calls the energy flow an ‘electrical impulse’.
The Third Eye

In the spiritual and holistic community, the pineal gland relates to the sixth chakra, aka the third eye chakra, located in between the eyebrows. In ancient times, the third eye was known as the eye of Horus or the eye of Ra, where this symbol (on the left), the all-seeing eye, originated.
So, it’s through the pineal gland that we tune-in to the energy of ourselves, our surroundings, each other and everything in between.
What are the Different Sixth Sense Abilities?
Right, let’s talk about the various abilities encompassed by the term sixth sense. And this list is not exhaustive, but it covers the main abilities.
The first five abilities connect with the five physical senses, which the sixth sense enhances to perceive beyond physical reality. Like adding an extra layer. And they’re known as the clairs.
Clairvoyance
The French word clair means clear. So the word clairvoyance means clear-seeing, with the term voyancederived from the French verb voir, which means to see. A clairvoyant sees with heightened vision beyond the physical eyes, which includes different timelines, different places in the world and even the universe, other dimensions and other types of beings such as spirit guides or galactic beings.
Clairaudience
We have clairaudience, which is clear-hearing, the ability to hear beyond physical hearing. For example, hearing a noise, yet nothing is there to make the noise. Another form of clairaudience is hearing energy. Some people hear electrical frequencies as ringing in the ears.
Clairalience
Clairalience is clear-smelling, which is smelling something that isn’t in the physical realm, such as a scent associated with a passed on loved one.
Getting an unexpected taste in your mouth when you haven’t eaten or drunk anything is the ability called clairgustance, which means clear-tasting.
Clairtangency
Clairtangency is clear-touch, also known as psychometry, the ability to receive information through touching an object.
Other clairs that aren’t associated with the five physical senses are:
Clairsentience
Clairsentience, which is clear-feeling, the ability to feel energy clearly. So a clairsentient feels the frequency of anything that has a frequency. For example, feeling another person’s physical pain or illness, sensing the electro-magnetic energy field of the body, a plant, or a rock, picking up on changes in the weather, earth energies, planet energies and much more. A clairsentient can also feel the energetic presence of a spirit being and if a spirit being is touching their shoulder or stroking their hair—as they often do to bring us comfort.
Claircognizance
We also have claircognizance, which is clear-knowing, the experience of instantly receiving information you never knew before, as if the information appeared in your mind.
Clairempathy
And clairempathy is clear-emotion, the ability to feel someone else’s emotions as if they were your own—a person with this ability is often called an empath. Clairempathy is one of the most common psychic abilities, and many people have this ability without realising. An example I mentioned earlier is to sense the atmosphere in a room. An empath can also channel other people’s emotions, which can make it harder to discern their own emotions.
Other Abilities
When developing the sixth sense, most people have one dominant clair sense, but with practice, your ability will expand. In addition to the clairs, other sixth sense abilities include telepathy and telekinesis, with tele meaning at a distance. Telepathy is reading people’s thoughts, and telekinesis is using the mind to move objects. We also have mediumship—the ability to communicate with the souls of people who have physically died—and astral travelling, an ability connected to clairvoyance which includes remote viewing and psychic projection.
So you can see how the sixth sense allows us to move beyond the third dimension and discover some of life’s mysteries.
I imagine some of you have used your sixth sense more than you realise. Sometimes energy can be subtle and easily missed, especially if you aren’t paying much attention. Most people don’t realise they have a sixth sense. We are born with it, but modern day reality rarely acknowledges this innate part of being human. And the way we live makes it harder to sense energy. Our technological world, while advancing science, doesn’t advance spirituality. For many, the sixth sense is underdeveloped, suppressed or even damaged.
What Blocks the Sixth Sense?
Here are a few examples of what can interfere with the sixth sense:

1. Harmful electrical frequencies. Theses invisible frequencies bombard us through the air 24/7, without respite, whether we like it or not. And as we are electrical beings, they interfere with how the body works.

2. Chemicals. Harmful chemicals are everywhere—the air, the water, the food—and we consume them one way or another, which again upsets the body’s natural rhythms and sensitivity.

3. Pharmaceutical drugs. Similar to chemicals, most pharmaceuticals are synthetic compounds that aren’t natural or conducive to our electro-magnetic bodies, and some of them affect the pineal gland. I’m not saying you shouldn’t take them, but to be aware of their effects.

4. Screen-time. Whether it’s the tv, phone, laptop, tablet or any other screen, screens emit yet more harmful frequencies that interfere with the body’s natural rhythms. But they also distract us from connecting with ourselves, with our nature environment and with each other.
But the biggest barrier to the sixth sense is:

5. Us. We are our own worst enemy for connecting with our sixth sense. As I mentioned earlier, our emotions and thoughts create energy, and negative energy is the biggest barrier to our sensitivity.
Emotions are energy-in-motion, and unexpressed emotion gets stuck in the body and blocks the flow of energy. And our thoughts, whether fearful, doubtful, frustrated, angry—anything that isn’t positive—are noisy and chaotic. And they drown out the often quiet whisper of the intuition, making us doubt the subtle feeling in our gut when it tries to warn us. Each of us has so much influence over our sixth sense: we can bring it to a standstill or lift it high above the clouds.
Wouldn’t you rather be up above the clouds, looking down, perceiving what you previously couldn’t?
6 Ways to Develop your Sixth Sense
1. LIFESTYLE
Make an honest assessment of your lifestyle and behaviour and reduce or cut out anything unhealthy that I already mentioned that might dampen your ability. For example, reduce your exposure to electro-magnetic radiation and chemicals. The cleaner your body and the more harmonised your energy, the clearer your sensitivity to energy. You could also improve your diet if needed. Low vibration foods, such as non-organic produce—especially if it’s flown in from abroad—interfere with your body’s electro-magnetism. As do heavily processed foods, sugar, caffeine, alcohol, nicotine and any substance that negatively stimulates the nervous system.
2. BEING PRESENT
Practice being more present. Often, we rush around from one thing to the next, barely stopping to catch a breath. We live in noisy, busy environments where we can’t hear our own thoughts, let alone tune-in to our feelings. Speaking of our thoughts again, when the mind is full of chaos, occupied with what to do next or have we done enough, slowing down is the best thing to ease the mental noise. You only need a few moments each day.
When you stop, you notice more, you feel more, you start to sense everything within you and everything around you. By tuning into your body, you can become aware of a whole myriad of sensations that you weren’t aware of when you were at full speed. Sensations that are your sixth sense showing you the extra layer that’s always there on top of your five physical senses.
And with presence comes:
3. OBSERVATION
Consider the idea that everything is connected and that our external environment is a mirror, a reflection, of our internal world. This relates to the belief that create our lives and experiences through our thoughts, feelings and actions. So it follows that our external environment is an extension to our intuition, our sixth sense. An example is the insight gained from signs and omens in nature.
If we look to the past, indigenous cultures have observed signs and omens in nature to help them with decisions. They could predict the weather, Earth changes and natural disasters. They knew when to plant and harvest crops for maximum yield and minimum attack from pests and disease. And we can learn from their example.

Noticing signs and interpreting their symbolism is a big part of my life. In my next post, I’ll talk about signs and symbolism in more detail.
I’ve also created several oracle card decks based on signs and symbolism. You can find more information about those cards HERE.
Speaking of oracle cards, this takes us to another tip that can help expand your sixth sense.
4. DIVINATION
Using any form of divination, especially oracle cards, is one of my favourite ways to expand my sixth sense. If using oracle cards appeals to you, make sure you choose a deck that resonates with you, otherwise they’ll be of little help. Oracle cards come in many forms, based on various themes, from detailed, artistic or fantasy-like designs to simple images.
You can read the cards in different ways: telling a story from the picture; interpreting signs and symbols; connecting with your spirit guide to channel messages; or simply reading the card description from the guidebook. I’ll talk about how to read oracle cards intuitively in my other posts, so keep a look-out for those.
5. JOURNALLING
Another thing you can do to improve your sixth sense is to keep a diary or journal of your intuitive nudges, your gut feelings, any signs and omens you see and even your dreams. Keeping track of what you experience can show you how accurate you are, which will help to ease doubt so you can become more confident and trust your ability. The more you trust yourself, the more open you’ll be and the more your ability will expand.
And this last tip is the most important of all:
6. PRACTICE
The sixth sense is an ability, a skill, and any skill requires practice. I mean, you wouldn’t expect to be proficient at driving a car the first time you start the engine, would you? Well, this is no different. So, practice being present and tuning-in to your inner self. Practice tuning into your body and noticing the sensations. The more aware you are, the more sensitive you become. And the more you practice, the stronger your ability.
Beyond the 3-D

Our knowledge of life is mostly limited to the third dimension, but there’s so much more to discover beyond our reality.
With an open mind and a developed sixth sense, you can step through a door and experience more than you ever imagined, if you’re brave enough to take that journey. And if you are, I can help.
